Imadegawa Kanesue (今出川兼季)
Kanesue IMADEGAWA (1281 - February 25, 1339) was a court noble in the late Kamakura period to the Muromachi period. He was the fourth son of Sanekane SAIONJI. His mother was wife of FUJIWARA no Takayasu (description in Sonpi Bunmyaku [Bloodlines of Noble and Base]). His homyo (posthumous Buddhist name) was Kakusei. He was a grandfather of Nichijin, monso (founder) of the Jinmon lineage of Hokke sect through a daughter Meigiku.
Brief Personal History
He was born as the fourth child of Sanekane SAIONJI in 1281.
He became a Sangi (councilor) on April 26, 1299.
He became udaijin (minister of the right) in 1323.
He became Juichii (Junior First Rank) on January 5, 1328.
He became Daijo-daijin (Grand Minister) in 1332.
He became a priest on December 12, 1338.
He died in 1339.
